Active fire safety intervenes during a fire: sprinklers, smoke detectors, extinguishers. Passive fire safety is built into the construction itself - fire-resistant walls, doors, seals and steel cladding - and delays fire spread and protects escape routes even before active systems or the fire brigade intervene. The latter is our field.

There is no fixed statutory period. How often a check makes sense depends on the use, the number of changes and the manufacturer's instructions; for fire dampers and fire doors those instructions are the starting point. In buildings with a lot of building work an annual round is common; where little changes, a round every two years can be enough. An extra check after renovations is sensible. The logbook we keep shows in one go during an inspection what has been done.

There is no fixed amount: the price depends on the type of construction, the required fire resistance duration (30, 60 or 120 minutes), accessibility and the scope of the project. After a quickscan or inventory you will receive an itemized quote.

A quickscan gives a fast, general overview and is suitable as a first step, for example when purchasing or renovating. For formal documentation towards an insurer or municipality, a full inventory with reporting is the usual level.

Yes. Most of our work is existing buildings, where fire safety has to be fitted into an existing structure. For listed buildings, we align solutions with the requirements from heritage conservation.

Smaller sealing or door projects: a few days to weeks. Larger projects, such as fully compartmentalizing an office building, we plan in consultation with you and other parties on the building site.

The Dutch Buildings Decree (Bbl) has several duties of care: Article 3.5 for the condition of existing buildings, Article 6.4 for fire-safe use and Article 2.6 for relevant building installations. The Bbl does not prescribe a form of evidence, but good documentation helps to show that the fire protection provisions are present, correctly installed and maintained. A digital logbook records for each provision what it is, where it is, which system was applied, when it was inspected and with what result, including photos. That is useful during an inspection by the competent authority or a question from the insurer.

A digital logbook is the complete online file of all fire-resistant provisions in a building. Every seal, door, damper, and construction receives a unique number and registration label on site; a floor plan with green, orange and red markers shows the status at a glance. This saves search time during inspections and makes maintenance plannable.

A single report costs more per item than a bundled catch-up. After a quickscan or survey, an itemized quote per element follows.
