Depending on your situation we opt for a quick fire safety scan - a quickscan that exposes the biggest risks within a short time - or a full survey with detailed reporting and a cost estimate for the measures required.
A fire scan is especially valuable at decision moments: when buying a building, before a renovation or conversion, when a tenant or use changes, and when an insurer or the municipality asks for substantiation. With a renovation it pays to scan early: measures that run along with the building work are considerably cheaper than the same interventions afterwards in a building that is back in use.

The online quickscan is free and gives a first indication. An on-site quickscan has a fixed, low fee. A full inventory with report and cost estimate is quoted on the basis of the size of the building, the number of floors and compartments and the desired depth of the report. The cost of the inventory is often recovered because you invest specifically in what is really needed.
Common mistakes
- Only looking at the technology while disregarding the usage phase and organization (emergency response, key management).
- Using a quickscan as formal proof toward the competent authority; an inventory is needed for that.
- Not prioritizing findings, so that small and large risks receive equal attention.

A fire safety scan or quickscan gives a quick, broad picture without extensive reporting - enough to know whether there is a problem and roughly how big it is. A survey is an in-depth analysis with a full report and cost estimate: the substantiation that insurers and regulators expect.
As early as possible, preferably in the design phase. Fire protection measures that run along with a conversion are far cheaper than the same work afterwards, when ceilings and walls are closed again and the building is in use. A conversion also often changes the compartmentation, so that a previously approved situation no longer fits.
