Fire doors made to measure, adjusted or refurbished: up to 60 minutes fire resistance, smoke-resistant where required, self-closing and certified.
Fire-resistant doors are an essential part of every escape route. They ensure that fire and smoke spread more slowly between compartments, giving people fleeing a safe route for longer.
We supply and install bespoke fire doors and frames: single and double doors, glass doors, doors in existing frames and complete door and frame combinations for new construction. Every bespoke fire door is fitted with a self-closing closer, the right smoke seals and certified hardware, because the classification applies to the complete door set of door, frame and hardware, within the classification's field of application.
Replacement is often unnecessary. An existing fire door that no longer closes properly can usually be refurbished: adjusting the closer, replacing sealing profiles and drop-down seals, renewing the ironmongery. That costs a fraction of a new door and makes the door demonstrably sound again. We assess during the survey what makes sense in your situation.

The cost of a fire-resistant door depends on the size, the classification (30 or 60 minutes, with or without smoke resistance), the hardware, the finish, and whether the frame is replaced or reused. Standard interior doors are more affordable than wide or double doors and glass doors. Adjusting or refurbishing existing doors is often a fraction of the replacement price.
Common mistakes
- Adjusting the closer so the door no longer latches fully shut; a fire door that doesn't close properly doesn't work.
- Using gap retainers or wedges that keep the door permanently open.
- Installing grilles or cat flaps in a fire door yourself, which voids the classification.

That depends on the dimensions, the classification (30 or 60 minutes, with or without smoke resistance), the ironmongery, the finish and whether the frame is replaced or reused. Standard internal doors are considerably cheaper than wide or double doors and glass doors. Also weigh up the refurbishment option: adjusting and re-sealing an existing door is often a fraction of the replacement price.
Usually, yes. If the door leaf and frame are structurally sound, the door can be overhauled: adjust the closer, replace seals and drop seal, renew hardware. Replacement is needed if the door leaf is damaged or warped, or if even after further investigation it cannot be established which door set is fitted.
Often, for example in escape routes: in addition to fire resistance, a smoke resistance requirement then applies, with a classification of Sa or S200 for the door. Fire resistance and smoke leakage are tested separately. Which requirement applies is assessed per situation.
Only if the frame itself also meets the requirements or can be made suitable. This is assessed during the inspection.
There is no fixed statutory interval. Take the manufacturer's instructions and the use as the starting point: an annual check of closing, seals and hardware is common, more often with intensive use. We carry this out under a maintenance contract and record every check, so that you can show during an inspection that the doors work.
